The One Tool You Need to Increase Productivity and Get Way More Done in Your Day!

In this video, I’m talking about the one tool you need to be more productive and get way more done in your day. I’ll be honest. Out of everything I studied in positive psychology there is nothing that has had a greater impact on my daily mood and productivity as this tool.

And the tool is called……..managing your positivity ratio.

Scientists have now discovered that positive emotions actually help us think more clearly on tests, increase creativity and actually make us feel like reaching out to others which increases our social resources. Scientists have also discovered that if you experience more positive emotions in your day to the number of negative emotions in your day – hence your positivity ratio – you can actually be happier, have a more positive mood and get way more done.

Now this makes sense doesn’t it? I mean when you’re in a bad mood, you feel like shutting your door and skulking off in the corner. But when you’re in a positive mood, you actually feel more confident and feel like going out and getting a whole bunch of stuff done.

Watch and find out how you can increase your positivity ratio and get way more done in your day!

The first time I learned about positivity ratios was from Barbara Fredrickson who was one of my amazing professors at the University of Pennsylvania and she is also the author of several books including Positivity.

And if you haven’t read this book, I highly recommend you do because it will give you all the information you need to know about how positive emotions can change your brain and contribute to so many good outcomes – especially your productivity – which is what I’m talking about today.

Try working on your positivity ratio for two weeks and let me know how it goes by leaving a comment below.  If you liked this video, please share it with your friends!

Thanks everyone, see you next time

Thanks Louisa. That was a really helpful video. You did a great job at distilling a complex idea into a simple concept that we can apply -right now– at home and at work.

Hi Deborah, I’m glad it was helpful. Try it for two weeks and I’d love to hear back about your experience with it.

Thanks Louisa. Your examples were clear and practical. While I feel I am already pretty focused on the positive, I am going to track myself for 2 weeks and see what I notice. I will also be sharing this with someone close to me who is very consciously working on managing his emotions.
