Dealing with Difficult People & The Law of the Garbage Truck

Today you are in for a treat. In this video I interview my dear friend David Pollay, author of The Law of the Garbage Truck. Practicing the Law of the Garbage Truck has had such an incredible impact on my life that I was thrilled David offered to share his message with all of you. If you have difficult people in your life or if you find it challenging to let go of bad experiences in your daily life, David shows you how you can change all that and not engage in all that negativity.

David’s challenge for all of you is to choose not to be a garbage truck and just allow annoyances to pass you by. Share one thing below that you’re going to choose to let pass by. I’d love to hear from you.

I’m sure there are more significant areas of my life, but I can see that daily practice will be frequent for me in driving the car. If I can see garbage trucks while in the car, then I feel confident I’ll start to see them in other areas of my life. I am inspired to go forth and “amplify”!

Hi Khadija! I’m glad you enjoyed David’s message. It really has changed my life. It’s amazing the first time you make the choice to let something pass you by, it’s really a good feeling. Let me know your experience as you give it a try! Thanks for the smile. Louisa

Hi Heather! Yes, I use it quite a bit in the car too. I used to be one of those people who was always getting mad in the car. What I find helps is to say “I’m never going to see this guy again. I’m not going to fill my body with negative emotions for someone I’ll never see again.” or sometimes “Maybe he had no idea he just cut me off.” It’s really freeing to let the habit go! Let me know how it goes. Louisa

Yes, allowing the annoyances pass you by is key. Also, dealing with true annoyances is also important as David stated.
I’m going to let comments by others pass me by and acknowledge positive ones more often.
Great interview, much appreciated.

As an educator, in order to develop and increase resiliency in students and to help them manage better with social issues and bullying, I use the law of the garbage truck. It is a very effective and valuable approach.

Hi Cindee, That is great that you use it in a school setting. I know David is doing a lot of work in schools to help children deal with bullies. When we can recognize it is their garbage, and not our own, it is very helpful. I’m glad it’s working for you! Hope you are well.
