What is Positive Psychology?

Welcome to my new blog! I am thrilled to tell you that I am finally writing my book. Yes, I know I have been talking about it for years, but now I am really doing it. Stay tuned right here or join my mailing list for my regular updates on the book which is scheduled for release January 2015.
As you know, much of my work centers around teaching people about positive psychology. I teach individuals how to apply it in their own lives to increase flourishing, happiness and courage and I also teach coaches, counsellors and leaders how to apply it with their clients and teams. I love what I do but not a lot of people actually know much about positive psychology.
Often when I go to parties and I tell people that I teach positive psychology, people kind of look at me funny and they’ll say things like…
“So is that like the opposite of negative psychology?” or “I’m totally into all that positive thinking stuff!” or “Oh yeah, I read The Secret, I love it!” – But this is not really what positive psychology is all about. In this video I really wanted to set the record straight and let you know what positive psychology is and what it is not.

Positive psychology is the scientific study of psychological well-being and human flourishing. Positive Psychology allows us to look at psychological research with a new perspective with the hopes of gaining new knowledge from it. I hope this video is useful as an introduction to the topic of positive psychology.
Now, I’d love to hear from you.
